Another Successful Year for Kabel Deutschland

Kabel Deutschland Holding AG (‘Kabel Deutschland’, ‘KDH’ or ‘the Company’), Germany’s largest cable network operator, today released its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2014.

Highlights for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2014:

  • Internet & Phone momentum remained strong with 329 thousand subscriber net adds in the fiscal year versus 308 thousand net adds last year. The Company now serves 2.3 million subscribers with Internet & Phone services
  • Premium TV(1) RGUs(2) increased by 232 thousand net adds year on year resulting in a total of 2.3 million Pay TV and DVR RGUs
  • RGU per subscriber ratio was up from 1.69 to 1.79
  • Total blended ARPU per subscriber(3) for the fiscal year reached €17.11 – up by €1.24 or 7.8% from the prior year
  • Revenue grew by 3.8% to €1,900 million year on year (5.3% on a pro forma basis excluding public broadcasters’ carriage fees, in line with the guidance of 5% to 6%)
  • Adjusted EBITDA (EBITDA)(4) increased by 5.5% to €910 million year on year with an EBITDA margin(5) of 47.9%, on guidance of approximately 48%
  • The Company spent 24.9% of revenues or €474 million on regular Capex(6), meeting the guidance of approximately 25%. The Company also spent €101 million on program Alpha
  • The Company posted a net loss of €68 million or €0.77 per share (versus a net profit of €247 million or €2.79 per share last year). No dividend distribution for FY 2013/14.
  • As of March 31, 2014, net leverage(7) stood at 3.2 times (same level as one year ago)

Highlights for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2014:

  • Strong quarter for internet with 90 thousand RGU net adds
  • Premium TV RGU increase of 67 thousand net adds
  • Revenue increased by 3.0% to €483 million year on year (4.0% on a pro forma basis excluding public broadcasters’ carriage fees)
  • EBITDA grew by 4.7% to €230 million with an EBITDA margin of 47.6% (previous year: 46.8%)
  • The Company spent 30.1% of revenues or €145 million on regular Capex and €43 million on program Alpha
  • The Company incurred a net loss of €1 million or €0.01 per share (versus a net profit of €47 million and €0.53 per share last year)
